If you're planning a wedding, the USPS postage rates for the invitations are a critical factor. The service offers the most affordable letter mail rates in the industrialized world, and there are no surcharges for residential delivery, regular Saturday deliveries, or fuel. You can expect to pay about two cents per invitation, and this amount is the cheapest way to send your invitations to your guests.

For an example, if your invitations are square, you will need to pay 78 cents per envelope. For a rectangular envelope weighing between 1-2 oz, the USPS will charge you 79C. An envelope that weighs more than one ounce will cost more than two cents, and you can use any letter size you choose. But you must remember that even if your invitations aren't letter size, you'll still need to pay letter postage.
However, if your letter is large enough to fit in an envelope, you should consider sending it via Priority Flat Rate. That way, you can avoid paying extra for shipping a smaller envelope. It is also better to use the legal size, as that is the standard size for international mailing. Aside from that, you'll be able to send larger packages through priority mail. Just make sure you use a USPS Customs Form (#2976) if you're sending a box or a parcel.
